Beautiful, Cheryl. Yes, we've lived through three major forest fires here in the Sierra Valley of northeastern California. For one of those I packed a big trunk of the family photos and also grabbed my mother's landscape watercolor paintings. Most recently my grandchildren stayed with us during the Bear Fire. Entire communities near us have been wiped out. However, I think we mostly have to be packed with prayer to best face those fires of life.
I thought of your pics—of the blazes in the hills above your town—when these latest fires erupted. Glad your loved ones could take refuge at your place. Ours are away from the fire's path in LA, but oh, the smoke. Yes. Stuffing our bags with prayer here.
PS- I love seeing your two published and one upcoming book covers side-by-side. “Brand is too much of a marketing word, but I can’t think of the right one to describe how beautifully these covers partner to convey the depth of your writing
Oh Cheryl, that last line “whatever your Californias” captured my heart. May I have your permission to share this in a future post and link back to you? I was with several authors from Southern California this past week and we were checking the news multiple times a day, with both Hope and Ash in our hearts.
Your writing is stunning and I love your heart for the hurting.
Oh my. Thank you, Jean. I’m guessing that heart is in you, too.

Dear Cheryl, I love your photos and empathetic thoughts for our beloved California friends coping with fire.
Best wishes with your 4th book! How exciting. Beth --Deep Waters / Bainbridge Island
Thanks for loving them with me, Beth . . .and for all your kindness to me. Blessings as YOU write!
If fire came, I would know that I am still a child of God, daughter to the King and infinitely loved.
No matter what. 🧡

Those covers fit together, don’t they? Thankful.
